The Happy Family

As requested by Dear... Here it is...

The family photo of my two bears with their pet koala... Kekeke...

Anyway, the reason why I put the koala with the 2 bears is bcoz all 3 of them are given by Dear and that all 3 are magnets. Heh heh... Cute huh??

Taking A Break From Job Applications

It's been such a long time since I last went shopping for CNY's clothings in late December and early January!! Actually, it wasn't that long lah... kekeke... just about one month plus only. But to me, it seems like very long!! Hahaa! =P Probably it is bcoz I have been staying at home, applying for jobs almost everyday eversince then.

Yeah... Yesterday, I went out with Dear to watch 'The Pink Panther' movie... but before the movie, Dear went to Starhub to enquire on the subscription for the digital cable vision as his mama wants to upgrade their SCV set to the digital one. After that, we walked to Cineleisure to have our "brunch" (breakfast cum lunch)... and we ate at Yoshinoya.

At Yoshinoya, Dear suddenly told me that he has got a present for me inside his pouch, so I opened it and saw 2 Starbucks bear magnets - 1 male and 1 female. So cute!! Dear then told me to put them on my CPU, which I did after I went home! But the male bear seems to have lost its magnetic power at first, bcoz when I first tried to stick it on my CPU it kept sliding down. So I actually placed it back to back with the female bear and after that, the male bear is able to stick on my CPU again!!! It must be a cheekopek bear!! Haaa!!

Then we went to B.I.R.D. after eating and I did some fashion show in the fitting room!!! Wheeee!! Bought the 2 items shown below from the Nikewoman Spring Collection (Dance series), which added up to $117.60!!!

But I'm still not satisfied coz I still have in mind alot of Nike apparels to buy!! Hahaa... It's like I wanna buy almost everything from the Dance series and another 2 items from the Tennis range.... one of them is the babydoll dress worn by Maria Sharapova during the Australia Open and one other tennis skort. Hehehee... I've got so many things to buy!! =P Due to money constraint, I need to wait... And hopefully, these apparels would also wait for me in the store!

After burning a hole in my pocket, it was almost time... Up we go to the 5th storey to get our movies tix and popcorns!! We entered the theatre and saw 2 ang mos sitting on our seats. Apparently, they have sat on the wrong seats. Dear then told them that they have taken our place, so they have no choice but to return to their original seats. There was this group of ang mo kids sitting on our right and the 2 ang mos who sat on our seats seem to be together with them. The kids were like running around in the theatre throughout the show, changing seats to the front then changing back, sat along the aisle, talking and laughing loudly, the guys even went in groups to use the female toilet in the theatre... dunno what the *beep* they were doing lah!!! SO NOISY!!! It was so inconsiderate of them and irritating to others!

Ok, 'The Pink Panther' movie is another lame but funny show. There were quite a lot of scenes which made me laughed like mad!! The story is about this silly Inspector Clouseau, who was appointed to carry out investigations on the murder case of a famous soccer coach from the France Team (who wore a Pink Panther Diamond ring) and also to find out the mystery of the missing ring after that murder. The diamond on that ring is so damn BIG lah!!! It's so BIG that it reminds me of the ring pop candy that I used to eat when I was a kid! Hahaa... Well, my favourite character in the movie must be Inspector Clouseau, for his silliness and weird language accent... and for having difficulties in saying the word "hamburger"... Hahaaa!!

After the movie, we went to shop around again... We walked to Taka then to Wisma, and went into Topshop while waiting for Bernard to come collect his movie tix from us. Dear and me then saw this rack of sunglasses, so I started trying them on... later Dear also joined me... While we were trying, we put on this same pair of sunglasses that was quite retro looking with a gold frame, and I suddenly thought of taking a pic with Dear with those retro glasses on!! Ahahahaa!! Not knowing if phototaking is allowed in the shop, I took out my camera sneakily and quickly snapped a few shots with my camera. Upon taking one of the shots, Bernard and his friend, Shuying, appeared in front of us!! So paiseh... we ma chiam zhi lian kuang like that!! Hahaa! But it was fun!! =P

By then, it was almost 9pm. So we proceed to Scott food court for our dinner. Initially I wanted to order phat thai (as usual)... but the lady was already washing up and said that there is no more phat thai. Sianz... In the end, we both ate beef noodles.

What Do You Think of Me?

I have received this online personality test called the Interactive Johari Window from my friends recently. The Johari Window model is a simple and useful tool for illustrating and improving self-awareness. Probably some of my SIM classmates may find it familiar as it was mentioned during one of our lectures before, but I can't remember what module it is (If I din remember wrongly, I think it should be during LMS lecture).

Anyway after helping my friends in doing the test, I have also created a test for myself. Hee! So... I hope my friends and people who know me can help me out by doing this test for me (it's just a 2-5 mins test), so that I'm able to understand myself better.

To contribute to my Johari Window, all you have to do is to click on the following link...

http://www.kevan.org/johari?name=Ice-Princess

In any case if the above link is not working, please look under Links For The Princess on the right sidebar and click on "My Johari Window".

Thanks to those who have contributed!! =)

I NEED A JOB!!!

Sigh... I'm just sooo... STRESS!!! Stressed by my mother's nagging!! I was actually staying at home during the whole weekend to send out job applications... Sent out approximately 11 applications in two days, carefully customising each and every cover letter and resume to suit the stated job requirements in each ad. I was like really glued onto my seat in front of the PC all day long on both Saturday and Sunday, all bcoz of The Straits Times that my mum bought on Saturday with one thick stack of Job Classified ads in it.

I am so damn stressed coz she kept nagging and hurrying me to get a job! She has been nagging eversince the end of my final examination until now. It is not that I don't wanna get a job, but that I can't get one... Furthermore, all along I've been submitting online applications through JobsDB. Recruitment firms have also been calling me up every now and then, but always offering me jobs which I do not want or jobs that pay lesser than my expected salary (or mayb I'm just too choosy!! Keke! =P). Anyway, who will understand? Only people who are looking for a job now will understand I guess... maybe graduates who are still unemployed from SIM - RMIT 30th intake BBBAFT will understand!!! Hahaa!! Coz we are all on the same boat... think most of us should be still trying to look for a job, some of us might still be feeling very lost and dunno what we want, some of us know what we want but are not wanted by the job market. Then there are also some who are rejected by the job market due to the competition with NUS, NTU and SMU graduates (*beep* these company!! hahaa!!)... but I guess most of us are not wanted due to the lack of relevant experience in the working field.

Well, my mum just doesn't understand a thing about the job market nowadays. She keeps telling me to accept any job offer that comes along. But I just couldn't anyhow accept any one job... bcoz if I don't have the interest in what I am doing, I will not do the job well. I used to see this sentence printed on a 37 degrees t-shirt saying something like that... "Work in a job you like and you will not have to work a day in your life". I AGREE! Hahaa!... Somemore, I think salary is another very important issue to me!! (Wat?! I got $$ face cannot meh??) Aiyah, no matter what, times are different now... it's not like 10 to 20 years back... suka suka just accept any job offer as long as the company pays you something, even if it is lesser than the market rate for your qualification status! NONONO!!!

Anyway, I really hope in the next few weeks I will get some responses from the companies I have sent my job applications to. By the way, something I have been expecting happened today... 2 companies which I have previously worked in called me up today!! One is Ananda Travel and the other is M1. Both companies have responded to my job applications! Hehee... so happy!

Weeks ago, I have applied for an Administrative Executive post in Ananda Travel and they called me up today to arrange for an interview on this coming Wednesday. As for M1, I applied for the position of Administrative Officer in the Customer Service Training Department. Apparently, a gal called me up from M1 and conducted a 15 mins interview with me over the phone (this is something that M1 likes to do! Bcoz before I became a CSO in M1 last time, they also called me up for phone interview twice before they shortlisted me for a face-to-face interview)! Although I was quite surprised and happy to receive the call but I was not very prepared to answer the questions.

The interview started with that gal asking me to tell her what I understood about this job. So I replied "I understand that this job requires me to provide administrative support to the training department such as to prepare the training materials for the trainers, schedule the time-table for the CSOs attending training courses and probably, to assign a mentor to the newly employed batch of CSOs undergoing training." At first I started off with some stammering, fortunately I was still able to give a satisfactory reply based on my past training experience when I was a CSO! Heng ah!!

She then said "Hmm... You seems to know quite abit about the job!! I see that you have written in your resume that you have worked in M1 before, is that why you know Adrian (Adrian is my former supervisor)?"

"Yes!" I told her.

Then she went on to ask me "You stated in the application that you have actually applied for other jobs in M1, what other jobs did you apply for?"

I told her that I previously applied for the Marketing Executive position but I didn't get any response from the HR. So she asked "But this administrative position is something very different from the marketing field, so why do you wanna apply for this job which is something so different?"

"It is bcoz I majored in Human Resource Management during my Degree course, so I was thinking that the training and development aspect is part of the HR function..." I said. (Sigh... think I shouldn't have gave that reply... I should have said that "Bcoz I have past working experience as a M1 Customer Service Officer, so I hope the knowledge and experience gained from there would be useful in this job.")

Then she sort of interrupted to say "Yes, training is a part of HR but as for this position, it is more of administrative than HR. Like what you have said earlier, this job requires the person to prepare the presentation materials, training schedules, prepare reports and so on... So do you think this is what you want to do?"

In order to get the job, of coz I said "Yes, it is something I would want to do."

The last question she asked was "What type of career aims do you want to achieve from this job?"

So I anyhow say... "As time goes by, I hope to take on more responsibilities and thus, with more responsibilities and experience, I hope to become a trainer myself." (Hahaa!! Bedey bedey one lah!!)

She then asked if I have any questions for her. So I said no. After all that questionings, she told me that if I am shortlisted for an interview, they will call me back in 2 weeks time. Then the call ended.

Overall, I'm not very satisfied with what I said, think I should have done better. I'm having that same after-feeling again... that same disappointed feeling as the last time when they called me for phone interview and I also felt that I didn't answer well after that. But actually, I think I answered the first and last question quite appropriately, just that the centre part was abit cocked up... and I stammered abit at the beginning. Sigh... I wonder if they will call me back in 2 weeks time. M1 is the company I want to work in! Hope they will call me back... Waiting.........

My Sweet Sweet Valentine...

My Valentine's Day didn't turn out to be that bad afterall!!! In fact, I enjoyed myself happily with Dear yesterday bcoz he spreaded the H.V.B. virus to me!!! What is H.V.B?? H.V.B. stands for Happy Valentine's, Baby!! And yesh... Dear came to my place yesterday at about 12plus and surprised me with a rose... Hee!! So sweet!! One stalk and I'm already so happy!! Got one better than none mah... Kekeke!!

When we started preparing the ingredients for our parmesan mushroom spagetti, I realized that there were no onions and garlics in the refrigerator... Sigh!! And my mum actually told me earlier that she kept them in the refrigerator's lowest compartment. Duhh!! Then how??

It was a good thing that my dad was actually on MC and that he has went out to see a doctor!! So I called him and asked him to buy me some onions and garlics on his way back. Ta-da~~ Problem solved!

Although we started preparing the ingredients such as cutting up the brown button mushrooms and boiling water to cook the spagetti, we could not cook the sauce until my dad came back. Ok, while preparing and cooking the meal... I think I was quite useless... bcoz I din help much... only know how to walk here and there.... Hahaa!! =P But I must say my Dear is so clever!!! Bcoz he "jing de liao chu fang, chu de liao ting tang"!! Kekeke!!

While we were cooking the spagetti sauce, my dad came into the kitchen and saw us cooking. Then he said that the food looks good and said he also wanna eat a little... But when I asked him earlier whether he wants us to cook his share, he said no as he has already eaten noodles just now... Luckily we overestimated the amount of spagetti to cook. Anyway, the parmesan mushroom spagetti was yummy yummy!! The amount of spagetti was too much so I didn't finish everything... but finished all the mushrooms!! Love them!!! Oishi!! My dad commented that it was nice too!!

Ok, chi bao yao shui jiao... Hahaa! We didn't go out until about 6plus, then we borrowed the car from my dad and went to Cineleisure to watch the 7.20pm show on "Fearless"... "Huo~huo~huohuo huo~huohuohuo"... After arriving in town, we saw many many couples... most gals carrying a hand bouquet, some not and many people selling roses on the street of Orchard Road. Anyway, we hurried to the theatre coz we were late but still bought pop-corns to eat since we both had cravings for it.

Well, the show was not what I expected like Huang Fei Hong or Fang Shi Yu (bcoz sometimes I do not like to watch those fighting or kungfu movies... sometimes la... depending on my mood). However, it turned out to be quite a nice show.

After the movie... we went to the toilet on level 3. While I was queueing for my turn, I saw a gal walking out from the cubicle which I was about to go in. She was wearing a super duper short cotton material skirt... It was damn short lah!!! So short until something lacey could be seen sticking out underneath the skirt. When I looked up to see her face... yucks... not at all pretty!!! It's bad of me to say that but it's true mah! Coincidently, she walked out of the toilet in front of me and..... GUESS WHAT??? That gal is LAWRENCE's girlfriend!!!!! Yeeeeesh!!! Lawrence, the weirdo from SIM... Year 1... the one who cannot turn up for project meeting bcoz of ants in his shoes!!! AHAHAHAHAAA!!! YEEEE...YUCKS!!! So disgusting!! People got girlfriend leh... hahahaaa!!!!!!

And I dunno why Dear and me went to stalk him up the escalator until level 5... kekeke!! Think we got nothing better to do... or mayb we were too amused by him having a girlfriend who is just as disgusting as him!!! (I actually wanted to snap a backview of them using my camera, but din have the right chance to do so... there were too many people blocking me!!)

Alright, enough of stalking. We spent some time shopping at Heeren after that and saw Brenda in her cousin's shop. Then we went jalan jalan along Orchard Road, saw couples and couples everywhere... In the end we made an U-turn at Lucky Plaza and went back to our car parked at the Cairnhill Mosque. Where is our next destination? After some "brainstorming"... we decided to have our dinner at the McDonald's in West Coast Park.

Along our way, I saw this road name "WEST COAST HWAY" stated on one of the road sign.... For a moment, I actually told Dear "How come got road name called West Coast Hway one meh??" Immediately after that, we passed by a bus-stop... on the bus-stop, there is a sign that states West Coast Highway. I then realized that Hway is the short form for Highway!!! Hahahahahaaaa!!! Just like Jln stands for Jalan, not jin... Keke!!

By the time we arrived at West Coast Park, it was already 10plus near 11 o'clock. At McDonald's, I had McSpicy meal and Dear had McWings meal for dinner. We then started talking about dead people and our experiences of attending wakes and funerals of our grandparents etc. Unknowingly, we just talked on and on about these until it was almost 12!! Hahaaa!! What an interesting topic huh!! After that we still went to the playground to play... wheee... so fun!!! We saw a few other couples at different spots of the playgrounds. Some lovey dovey chit-chatting... some playing with the playground obstacles like us... some playing with fireworks... and some ah tiongs...

Time flies and it's almost 1am. It's time to go home... so we slowly strolled back to the car. While scrolling back, we also took some photos!!! But after a few shots, my stupid camera ran out of battery.

So that was how we spent our Valentine's Day 2006!! Thanks Dear!

A Phone Call That Pissed Me Off!!!

Ok, Valentine's Day didn't really start off well for me today... The first thing that I know when I woke up was my father standing in front of me, telling me that he is not working today bcoz he was having a headache earlier this morning. So the first thing that came to my mind was "DAMN... does that mean that my plan for Valentine's Day to cook lunch at home with Dear is ruined? Does it mean there will be a 3rd pair of eyes looking at us doing whatever things at home? How unromantic huh?!! Duhh..." Ok nevermind that, so I immediately sent a message to Dear to inform him about it. He then called me back on my handphone within the next few minutes.

While I was on the phone with him, I received another call on the other line... I guess it must be some recruitment consultant calling me... but I decided to give it a miss since I was talking to my Dear and still deciding what we should do later. However, this same caller so then called me on my house phone since I missed his call on my handphone. Ok, I know it's the same person calling bcoz I've got Caller ID on both phones... So I had no choice but to pick up the house phone since it was ringing like nobody's business. And I told Dear that I will call him back.

Well well... Let's see what type of job this recruitment consultant has to offer me.... Usually, normally, 100% confirm, plus guarantee stamp, is not what I have applied for. I'm so sure bcoz I received these kind of calls from them too many times... Everytime I applied for HR positions from the recruitment firms that advertised in JobsDB, those who responded to my application would call me back to offer me either customer service or admin jobs. And they will explain to me that the HR job which I have applied for requires someone with relevant experiences.

Expectedly, this same scenario happened this time again. But I suddenly have the courage to talk back to the consultant. I think this recruitment consultant is also very suay to call me at the time when I was feeling quite argitated by the thought of my father "ruining" my Valentine's Day plan. Kekeke!! He actually offered me an admin assistant position and explained to me that the HR post which I have applied for requires someone with at least 1 year experience. Then he continued to tell me that nowadays companies are not willing to train so even fresh graduates specializing in HRM could not get a HR job. And he strongly recommended me to take up the admin assistant job since I have admin experiences.

So I asked him "So do you mean that nowadays even though I have a degree specializing in HR, it also cannot help me in getting into the HR field?"

He then replied "Yes, not all the time but most cases are like this... bcoz nowadays companies are very busy and they do not have the time to train people with no experience. So it doesn't mean that you have a degree specializing in HR then you will get a job in HR. Since you have admin experience, that's why I would offer you to take up this admin assistant job. Furthermore this job requires you to provide administrative assistance in all the aspect which including partly HR. So you can gain your HR experience from there."

In my mind I was thinking "Aren't you indirectly implying that my speciialization in HR during my degree course is actually useless in the job market now?? In this case, what's the point for degree students without HR working experience to choose HRM as their specialization since they can't even get into a HR job after graduating?? Shouldn't SIM set a requirement for student saying that only those with HR working experience are allowed to major in HR? At least if this is the case, I could have chose to marketing as my specialization instead... Now I am like hanging in the air, neither here nor there... Sometimes I wanna apply marketing positions but marketing is not what I majored in. Yet when I apply for HR positions, they mostly require certs with years of experiences. What should I do? Can I turn back the clock so that I could major in marketing instead and redo my majoring subjects??? How I wished!"

Then I asked him again "Ok... but isn't HR also an administrative job??"

He agreed and repeated "That's why you should take up this job to gain the HR experience you want and request for an internal transfer in the company later on."

And so I asked "Since you said that HR is also an administrative job, so why isn't my admin experience taken into consideration as a relevant experience to the HR position??"

He answered "Bcoz the company specified that they need someone with at least 1 year experience in HR and you do not possess this experience."

In my mind I was thinking "What is 1 year experience?? I have studied my degree course for 2 years loh... means I have been studying on HR topics for 2 years too!! Can't my these 2 years HR knowledge beat someone with only 1 year of experience??...... Arrgh!! These companies and recruitment consultants are just sooo inflexible!! Stupid people!!"

Just to test out how good the admin assistant job is, I asked him "What is included in the job scope of the admin assistant position? He then told me "It's bao gah liao! You sometimes need to help the company in the administering of its financial matters like handling accounts and payroll, sometimes in sales and marketing, and sometimes in HR and also in answering customer phonecalls. Basically, providing administrative assistance in all the aspects and any other admin duties assigned by the superior."

The "bao gah liao" word has already frightened me and this description of the job has already told me that it should be a small company with no divisional structure. If there's no departments, how can I request for an internal transfer????????? Feel like slapping the recruitment consultant!!

Ok, I went on to ask him "What is the salary range which the company is willing to offer?"

He then asked me " What is your expected?"

So I replied firmly with "$1800 as a fresh grad!"

"The company is willing to pay up to a maximum of $1500 for this position." said the recruitment consultant.

So I exclaimed "WHAT?? ONLY $1500??! DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD WANT A JOB THAT IS ONLY PAYING YOU $1500 IF YOU ARE A DEGREE HOLDER LIKE ME???"

The recruitment consulant then interrupted "Actually there are alot of people like you who think the same way as you, but soon they will realize that having a degree is nothing."

By then I was already very pissed off... I ignored what he said and insisted on asking him this question... "Ok... I mean if say that you are a fresh degree holder like me, do you think you would want to take up a job that is paying you at a salary rate similar to the rate offered to the diploma holders?? Do you??"

He finally had nothing to say but to stop persuading me to take up the admin assistant job and said that he would help me keep a lookout for other suitable jobs (which I doubt so!). Ahahahaa!!Dunno why but I just felt so contented with myself for questioning the recruitment consultant until he "bo wei kong"! I believe if he is in my shoes, he would also not want a job that is paying at a diploma holders' rate yet still need to "bao gah liao" lor!!

Love is in the air...

Yea~!!! Today is my 1 year and 1 month anniversary together with Deardear! Although there's no celebration today, still I wanna wish ourselves "Happy Anniversary!!". Hehee!

And yesh... Tomorrow is Valentine's Day!! A BIG day for all couples!! I would like to wish my Dear and all the couples I know a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!! For those who are single, may your secret admirer(s) or dream lover appears with a bouquet of flowers for you tomorrow! And for those who are secretly admiring someone, may you have the courage to confess your love to that special someone on this special day!!

As for Dear and I, we have agreed on not buying anything for each other bcoz both of us are so broke!!! Ahahahaa!! Bcoz we are poor students (qiong shu sheng)!! Oh, I mean poor graduates who are still unemployed lah... Hahaa! =P So we have planned to spend a low budget Valentine's Day by cooking lunch at my place. But that's not all!! Hope my dad is not using the car tomorrow night... then we could borrow the car to go out for dinner and jalan jalan!!! Kekeke!!...

But frankly speaking, I am wondering if I would be receiving roses tomorrow??! HEHEHEHEHEEE!!! (This is suppose to be a hint for him... but I think he would not be able to read it bcoz both his laptop and home PC are spoilt... =P) Anyway, it's ok la... I know roses are so damn expensive during this season, don't think it will be wise to spent the money on it now loh... since I also know that he's broke. Moreover, we have already made an agreement not to buy anything for each other earlier on... so be it. =)

Have you watched 'I Not Stupid 2'?

Went to catch the movie on 'I Not Stupid 2' with Dear yesterday at GV Marina. Initially, we wanted to park the car at Marina Square carpark, but it was so full until the entrance was blocked up using barricades. However, we tried our luck by entering thru the other entrance even though it stated that it was 'FULL'. After entering the carpark, we then realised that it was so packed that the cars could hardly move inside the carpark. So we decided to park the car at Suntec. Finding a parking lot at Suntec was easier though, but more troublesome for us coz we had to walk to Marina to catch the movie and walk all the way back to get the car after that. Furthermore, the parking fee was charged by per hour basis. We entered the carpark at about 8plus and left around 12... guess how much we paid for the parking fee?... $4.20!!... sibei expensive wor!! No wonder everyone parked at Marina Square lah!!!

Everywhere in Marina was crowded yesterday bcoz the shopping hours were extended to 12am. We first went to Giant to buy some groceries for our Valentine's Day lunch. Hehee!! Then we decided to have our dinner at Sakae Sushi, then again we had to queue!! After waiting for about half an hour, we finally got our seats!! But we are only left with 10mins to eat as we had a movie to catch... Think that was my fastest record having dinner at Sakae. Once we sat down, I immediately ordered whatever we wanted to eat using the computer. Their service was quite fast though... the food arrived within 5 mins. Then we spent the next 10 mins enjoying our food and left the restuarant immediately after that. I also found out a loop-hole in Sakae... coz since we were in a hurry to leave, Dear actually asked for the bill before I finished eating my gyoza. So the waiter counted the total no. of colour and red plates on the table and gave us the bill. At that time, I was still eating. So something suddenly came to my mind, I asked Dear "What if I continue to take something else from the belt and carry on eating? How would they know since they have already counted the total no. of plates?" So Dear suggested that it will be best to take the red plate then!! Hahaa! Of coz, we din do it lah... We were juz wondering that could be a loop-hole.

Alright, about the show 'I Not Stupid 2'... I actually do not fancy watching Singapore's production in the movie theatre bcoz I think it is not worth the money. However, there's an exception for I Not Stupid. Probably bcoz I have watched part 1 previously and find that many scenes in the movie reflected the life of a typical Singaporean kid. So I do not mind watching the 2nd part. Another reason is bcoz I find Joshua Ang and Shawn Lee quite cute and good-looking!! Hahahaa!!! (Dear dun scold me ok...) Yesh... I also like to be 'lau niu chi neng cao'!! Kekeke!! =P

Overall, I like part 2 as well. As usual, it was so funny!! But I must say the ending is SO LAME!!! And the grandma of Shawn Lee in the movie... she's COOL MAN!!! As for Jack Neo... WATEVER!! Hahaa!! I think the little boy starring as Shawn's younger brother... think his name is Ashley Leong... he suit his role very well... coz he has got that innocent and blur blur look. The funniest was the part whereby they illustrated on how parents like to nag and nag with all the symbols coming out of their mouths, going into one side of our ears and out of the other ear. And it is so true about kids eventually becoming mute bcoz whenever we try to explain ourselves to our parents, they would take it as we are arguing with them. So the best solution for us is to keep quiet... then again they would ask whether we are dumb for not saying anything... This is so so true (for me)!! Hehee! There were also other parts which reflected what I have experienced myself... Like that scene where the parents quarrelled with each other, the kids would be the ones to suffer. It's so true again!! In fact, I din know that nowadays schools actually conduct spotchecks on handphones by calling the students' mobile no. on the spot. Hahaa... That is something new to me!! There were also some sad scenes in the show which made me wanna cry... but luckily I was still able to hold back my tears, if not it would be so paiseh.... Hehee!!

Interviews that Wasted My Time...

Went for 2 job interviews yesterday... one was in the morning near Upper Paya Lebar and the other at 4pm in town area. Somehow I think it's such a waste of my time. 3 things happened during the 1st interview...

My 1st Encounter
My cab turned into the building and bypassed the security post to let me alight outside the reception area. I immediately walked to the receptionist and told her that I was here for an interview. So she asked me "You didn't get a pass from the security juz now izzit??" So I replied " No, I din." She then told me with a stern look on her face "Can you go take one now?" I was then thinking "Take then take lah, so fierce for wat?!"

My 2nd Encounter
So I walked out to the security post and handled the security my identity card in exchange for a visitor's pass. Then I came across this man who was standing outside the security post chit-chatting with the security who then asked me "You are so in a hurry ah??... Can't even stop awhile juz now ah?" I then smiled at him and said "Yah." But I was thinking "The security also din stop the cab juz now, then now you said I'm in a hurry??! Siao!! Furthermore, whether I'm in a hurry or not, that's none of your business loh!!"

My 3rd Encounter
During the interview, I asked the interviewer when would I know if I'm shortlisted... she then told me that she is not in a hurry to employ this person, so I might need to wait for a period of 3 weeks to a month to know if I'm shortlisted. In my mind I was thinking... "Siao!! So long!!! Who wanna wait so long???" During those interviews which I have attended before the CNY, the interviewers told me that they would call me up for a 2nd interview within the next 2 weeks time. And that I already thought was long enough... This one needs me to wait 3 weeks to 1 month... "Wa kua li si siao!!!" But then again, I think after a month I may still be unemployed. Hahaa!!

All the people in this company seems so weird. Anyway, this is not the reason why I thought going for the interview was a waste of time. The reason was partly due to my own fault bcoz I was not prepared that the interviewer would ask me questions to test my HR knowledge. I took some time to think of what to say and I could tell that the interviewer was not very satisfied with my reply. That's why I think there goes the job opportunity down the drain.... This taught me a lesson for taking the interview for granted.

After the 1st interview, I went to meet Dear for lunch at a coffeeshop near his place. Then we went to town together. He went to work and I went shopping at Far East Plaza. I was thinking to go for manicure so my nails could be in a better shape. I then walked into this manicure shop on level 3 bcoz I was attracted by the promotion signage placed outside the shop, which states $9.90 for Express Manicure. And I told the person that I would like to do the $9.90 express manicure. She then told me that express manicure only includes shaping of nails plus putting on the polish. Yup, that was juz what I wanted!

So... here goes my nails... from this length:

To this length:

Okie, they have to cut my nails shorter in order to shape them into the squarish tips. I sort of regretted it slightly bcoz my nails are so short again!!! Now I need to wait for them to grow longer again... Sigh... How long must I wait?? Think I can wait until the interviewer calls me for 2nd interview now... which is like 1 month later?? Hahaa... In reality, my nails look much shorter to me, but dunno why it doesn't seems like there's much of a difference on the pics.

After the manicure was done, I headed down to Suntec for my 2nd interview of the day. This interview was much more clear cut than the one I went to in the morning. Apparently, it started with me introducing myself and talking about my past work experiences. Then the interviewer went straight to the point to tell me about the job scope of the position and went on to ask if I have any questions. So I asked the same old question again. Hehee... At least this time the reply was what I was expecting to hear... she said she would inform me by end of this week if I were to be shortlisted for a 2nd interview. And that led to the end of the interview. The interviewer din even ask me things like how my skills learnt from past working experiences could help me in this position, etc. I simply think that the chances of getting the job is not high whenever the interview ends too fast bcoz it seems too simple. And it also seems as if the interviewer was not interested in interviewing further. Think this was another interview which wasted my time.

Posting My First Entry... Testing Testing!!

Well well, I have decided to start blogging since I'm so damn bored these days!! Despite sending out so many job applications, companies calling me up for interviews were lesser than least. Hahaa... Frankly speaking, I dun even know what I want... Although HR was what I specialized in, I dun have any relevant experiences in it!! Then again... referring to the job ads which I have came across so far, almost every HR position requires someone with at least 3-5 years of relevant experiences. Sometimes I wished I could ask these companies: "If every company thinks the same and never allow we fresh graduates the opportunity to work in this field, where the hell are we going to earn our relevant experience from???"

I realised that by penning my thoughts here could be one good way to help release my stress, or rather... to voice out my inner thoughts, especially during times when there's no one I could talk to or to confront my problems, or when I simply feel like venting my anger!!!... Kekeke!! Life's getting so boring these days as most of my classmates have started stepping into the working world one by one... everyone would then be so busy with their own life till we might eventually lost contact with one another. Of course I wish this would not happen!!

Ok anyway, this is my 1st post... and also a test post, so nothing much to write about yet. Soon, there will be more to come!!
