CNY Department Lunch

Last Friday was a day that I felt happy going to work bcoz I only had to work for about half a day... Lesser working hours = Happy!! This is bcoz we had our section meeting held from 10am to lunchtime and then we had our CNY department lunch in our conference room till 1.30pm. Then in the late afternoon around 3.30pm I had my appraisal.

We had our department Loh Hei, which was prepared by one of my colleagues' auntie... The portion was so much larger than the large size sold outside until it looks like a bush to me!! Hahaa! The salmon was still frozen while we were preparing the Loh Hei... we did not have time to defrost it and I could still see ice flakes on the salmon even after they were put onto the Loh Hei.

That was our first time to 'loh' for this year... it was a internal one... Tomorrow, we will 'loh' again together with the other departments... coz this time it is sponsored by our management.

Anyway, something stupid happened when we started to 'loh'... Everyone was so excited and started 'loh-ing' until one of my colleagues shouted 'STOP STOP STOP!!!' All of us stopped feeling puzzled on why she told us to stop... Guessed what??! We forgot to pour in the plum sauce... Ahahahaaa!! DAMN DUMB LAH!!!

Another weird thing about the CNY lunch is that we ate malay food instead of chinese food... bcoz my department has got Malays so the food must be halal and was bought from the Malay stall. Then my AVP bought us surprise desserts... See picture below... They are actually mini muffins with sugar icing on top. Looks very cute but not very nice to eat... coz the icing on top was very hard!

Oh yah, my AVP told us her bad experience dining at Compass Point Jack's Place last week... She said she ordered their chicken chop served on the hot plate. And while she was eating the food, she said she had this feeling that she was tasting rust. However she finished the whole chicken and was left with the baked potato... she then realised around the sides of the hot plate were all rusty... Her husband used servettes to rub against the rusty surface and the whole servette became brown in colour... which means the rust can actually come off from the surface of the hot plate... OMG!!! She was all along eating the rust!! Can you imagine that??? Yucks!!!

So better check your hot plate before eating if any of you happens to dine at that place or any other Jack's Place or order any food that is served on a hot plate. Anyway, my AVP informed the restaurant manager about the rust on the hot plate that was served to her but he apologized and said that he was not aware about it. So my AVP suggested that they conduct a check on all their other hot plates so as not to use them if they are already rusty. Hmmm... Perhaps after reading this, you may not even want to dine at Jack's Place already... =P

Oh, talking about my appraisal... I hated the evaluations... coz I felt that I worked so hard especially in learning so many more products processing skills compared to some other people in my team during the last whole year... but I was only rated with satisfactory performance while those who refused to learn new skills are rated good... TMD! I think it is simply not justifiable! There goes my performance bonus down the drain... (even if it is only a few hundred dollars also good, despite the economy downturn...) Waste my whole year's effort!! If I know this will be the outcome earlier, I should have left the company... Now I am stuck here in this f*ck up place where hard work is not being recognized but 'carrying balls' is.
